Yoga for a Cause
Thursday, July 24
6:00pm - 7:00pm
at Downtown Yoga
Please join us for a gentle, beginner friendly yoga class followed by a short guided meditation for the cause of ALS. One of our beloved community members, Robbie Beyl, was diagnosed with ALS and his family are in need of a wheelchair accessible van. His wife, Gayle: "Robbie Beyl received the life-shattering diagnosis of ALS in July 2024. For those of you who are not very familiar with ALS (or Lou Gehrig's disease), it is a neuromuscular disorder that leads to progressive and complete loss of muscle function. It eventually robs a person of their ability to stand, walk, talk, swallow, and even breathe. This tragic disease typically leads to severe disability within 1 year of diagnosis. There is no cure, and the average life expectancy is 3-5 years from time of diagnosis. The ALS association estimates that it costs around $80,000-$250,00 a year in out-of-pocket costs to care for a person with ALS. As anticipated, Robbie is rapidly declining and is quickly losing his ability to stand. He will soon be reliant on a wheelchair, and we are now in need of a wheelchair accessible van and are hoping to find one second hand because of the significant cost." This is a donation based class. Minimum donation $15. Age 12 and up.
